Apparent contradiction between Matthew 9:18 and Mark 5:23?

My question is I see that about Jairus's daughter, I am reading the Riley bible New American Standard, Matthew 9:18 states, while he was saying these things to them, behold, there came a synagogue official and bowed down before him saying my daughter has just died. Now in Mark chapter 5 verse 23, he entreated him earnestly saying my daughter is at the point of death, please come lay your hands on her that she may get well and live. So, obviously Matthew says dead and she is not dead in Mark.
