God made the sun, the star in our solar system, which gives us light by day. Jeremiah 31 35 Thus saith the Lord, which giveth the sun for a light by day ... -kjv 35 Thus says the Lord, Who gives the sun for a light by day, ...  -nkjv

The earth is situated in the solar system at just the right location with respect to the sun to receive enough sunlight to sustain life, not too far so that it is too cold and not too near so that it is too hot.
