Mark: I have a question about timing. How long was it from the time the Israelites left Egypt to the time King Saul became king of Israel?

Summary:

According to 1Kings 6, the Israelite's exodus took place in 1446 BC. 1050 BC is the date when Saul became king. So, it is about four hundred years. We know the date of David and Solomon ruled and the split of the kingdom in 930 BC. Saul, David and Solomon each had about 40 year's reign.

Scriptures:

1 Kings

1And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the Lord. -nkjv

1 Now it came about in the four hundred and eightieth year after the sons of Israel came out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, that is, the second month, that he began to build the house of the Lord. -nasb
